Ditch Crossings

Requirements for crossing or encroaching on the company's ditch and right-of-way.

Work Near the Ditch

All work along the ditch corridor (including crossing over or under) and work along, or adjacent to, either bank may require a license agreement and approval by the Company. Please inquire with the Company before planning or performing any work near the ditch.

This includes, for example:

  • Road or driveway crossings (culvert or bridge)
  • Underground utility lines (water, gas, electric, fiber)
  • Overhead utility crossings
  • Pipeline crossings
  • Any excavation within the right-of-way

Application Process

  1. Complete and submit the crossing application (link below).
  2. Include a site plan showing the proposed crossing location, dimensions, and method.
  3. The company will review your application. If approved, you will receive a license agreement specifying conditions and any required fees.
  4. Notify the Superintendent before beginning work.
  5. The company retains the right to inspect during and after construction.

Emergency Work

If emergency work within the right-of-way is necessary to prevent imminent danger to persons or property, contact the Superintendent immediately at the number on the contact page. An application must still be submitted promptly after any emergency work.
